On Thursday 15 September, we were joined by friends, supporters and celebrities to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a star-studded gala at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. 

After a reception on the stunning Colonnades, guests entered the spectacular Painted Hall, where they were welcomed by our host for the night, the hilarious Stephen K Amos, who regaled guests with stories from his personal history with the charity and thanked many of our VIP guests from the stage. Stars included Sinitta, Claire Sweeney, Emile Sande, Dan Gillespie Sells and many more.

With performances from Charlie Condou who delivered a moving monologue from Martin Sherman’s Gently Down the Stream, as well as drag royalty Cheryl Hole and Karla Bear, guests were treated to a feast of entertainment and glamour which culminated in a phenomenal and energetic performance from Jake Shears, lead vocalist of The Scissor Sisters.

Throughout the evening we heard of the incredible advances that have been made in HIV treatment, prevention and care. Broadcaster Adele Roberts hosted an inspiring conversation with our Positive Voices speakers, Oli Brown and Sue Hunter, who talked of their experiences challenging stigma and discrimination.

We're delighted to announce that our gala raised over £200,000, which will support our mission of ending new cases of HIV and supporting all those living with HIV.

Our heartfelt gratitude and thanks each and every guest, everyone who donated a prize, to our wonderful performer and to our super volunteer for making the evening such a success and special thanks to jewellery designer, Robert Tateossian, who created a bespoke pin badge sold to our guests on the night.
